Profile


Mission: The Department of History was brought into being in 1979. History as a discipline opens a window to the past that provides an understanding of present day and how individual, nations and global community might develop in the future. Since then, the department has been successfully delivering excellent results each year.

Vision: While the department began its journey with only HS and general courses, it has been offering Honours courses since 2009 and is now functioning as a full fledged department. It comprises of a faculty that is dedicated and students that are motivated to learn.
On 5th September 2023, the department released a book "Rampart" consisting of various research articles by different scholars from all across the state. The editor of the book is Dr. Anima Dutta, Head Of the Department of History.

Best practices:
1. The department regularly helps underprivileged students with books and learning materials.
2. The mental health of students is considered a priority. Regular discussions on academic and career aspects are held between faculty and students.

Future plans:
The department intends to :
1. Conduct syllabus oriented seminars more frequently.
2. Organise educational trips every year without fail.
3. Conduct seminar on career counselling for the advanced of students.
